1. Who We Are

YKI Testi ("we", "our", "us") is a free online practice service for the Finnish YKI proficiency exam. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data We Collect

  • Email address—used to create and identify your account
  • Test attempts and results—stored so you can review past tests and track progress
  • Answers submitted during tests—stored to show you a detailed results review
  • Audio recordings—captured during speaking practice, sent for transcription, not stored after processing

We do not collect payment information. We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to operate the service: authenticate your account, save your test progress, and show you your results. We do not use your data for marketing or share it with third parties except as described below.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Supabase—authentication and database hosting (EU region)
  • Anthropic—AI evaluation of speaking and writing attempts; receives transcripts and written responses
  • OpenAI / Groq—speech-to-text transcription of speaking practice; receives audio recordings
  • Paddle—subscription billing and payment processing

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email address below. We will respond within 30 days.

You may also request that we stop processing your data or export it in a portable format.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and test data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use session cookies required for authentication. Paddle's checkout overlay may set cookies during the payment flow. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings.
